Volunteer Research Associate

Our Research Associates dig into a wide array of topics and help develop projects that examine local political and voting issues within specific cities across the nation. They play a key role in obtaining factual information that will be used for local and regional digital campaigns in an effort to increase voter turnout!

We look for applicants who have a great political sense and knowledge of politicians, political parties, outside groups, and the legislative process.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Thoroughly gather information and succinctly summarize key points from a variety of sources, major news outlets, reputable think tanks, government agencies, campaign, corporate filings, legal records, and other sources

  • Producing and disseminating high-quality research in the areas of civic engagement and voter participation.

  • Educating voters on the importance of state and local elections and policies.

  • Engaging in policy analysis, development, and dissemination of information to the general public.

  • Monitor and maintain research on political appointees, policy positions, and initiatives of the White House, federal agencies, Congress, local politics and city councils, etc.

  • Review public-facing materials for factual accuracy

  • Generate public records requests and ideas for rapid response or long-term research projects

  • Provide additional research capacity to down-ballot campaigns and state parties

About You

  • Deep understanding of politics and political campaigns

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including an eagle-eye for typos and errors

  • Strict attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Ability to take direction, ask questions and quickly learn new tasks and databases

  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines

 

Commitment: 6 to 8 hours per week
