Social Media Intern (Remote) 

 

DESCRIPTION: 

Engage Local Change is looking for a Social Media Intern to support, bolster, and grow our social media presence. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of current social media trends and best practices, have a fun and upbeat attitude, and excellent communication skills. We are searching for a creative, autonomous worker, who is ready to hit the ground running! 

 

As a Social Media Intern, you will assist Engage Local Change in ensuring that all brand messaging is aligned as well as managing daily content & monitoring of various social channels. You will be responsible for creating high-quality, appealing, and informative posts on a continuous basis to increase engagement for our organic social channels and to grow our online presence, all while promoting the vision and mission of ELC! 

 

This intern position is ideal for someone who is confident in working independently and as a team. 

 

You will be responsible for the following, but not limited to: 

  • Sourcing User Generated Content 

  • Assisting with photographing and filming social media content 

  • Concept ideation 

  • Assist in managing the front-end social media (i.e. Facebook and Instagram comments) 

  • Social media trends and competitor research 

  • Collaborate on the creation of a digital outreach calendar 

  • Assist with the creation of social media content, storytelling projects, and educational materials 

  • Weekly video check-ins 

  • Additional scheduled meetings as needed to review project-related questions and guidelines 

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

 
 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Microsoft Office /  Teams proficiency is a must  

  • You have a background or experience in social media, photography and/or videography. Familiarity with Photoshop is a plus. 

  • A keen eye for creative design aesthetics 

  • Previous experience managing social media including Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest or proven capability to work within this realm. 

  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment 

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills 

  • Proactive and ability to work autonomously 

  • Experience meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment 

  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours when needed 

 
 

COMMITMENT & STIPEND: 

We are seeking a Social Media intern for a 6-month term. Fully remote so anyone in the United States will be considered. There will be a $600 end of term stipend.
